Challenge
Navy Federal Credit Union needed a complete cabling infrastructure for their new 45,000 square foot facility. To accommodate their constant growth and changes, they installed a raised floor throughout and needed a flexible cabling infrastructure.
Solution
Custom Cable installed a Cat5e Zone cable solution to support voice and data needs. We also installed fiber and copper backbone cabling between telecommunications rooms.
Unlike a traditional homerun cabling system, the Zone system we designed allows workplace reconfigurations that are low-cost, quick, and minimally disruptive to work. We engineered and pre-assembled the cable components and shipped them pre-built, labeled and tested, ready for a speedy and hassle-free installation that did not impede the work of other trades on site.
Results
Navy Federal Credit Union has taken full advantage of the new, flexible workplace it created. With every move or change, voice and data are at the ready. In fact, the credit union makes these changes itself, quickly and easily.

  • Zone cabling is reusable, because Zone cable is not home runned to each user but rather has a midpoint in the workgroup area. It can be used and reconfigured over and over. As your business experiences churn, a Zone cable system churns with you.

  • In a typical home run cable system, moving a workstation involves installing a new cable. If the old cable is abandoned it must be removed per NEC 2002 & 2005. This adds additional cost and leads to more scrap cable and materials that may end up in land fills.
